This is a really cool little coffee pot. It's just enough coffee for two and stays warm a while.
He has decided when he goes to college that he can suppliment his income by providing Great Coffee for his dorm mates, at a reasonable cost to them. My nephew had a French Press on his list for an 18th Birthday present. After much research I decided on the Planetary Design Table Top Stainless Steel model. The package arrived at my home in a timely fashion, and was packed very well. He was thrilled with it, particularly when he did some research of his own on the model. He packs it with him on trips to the mountain, the coast, and parties at his friends. It survived another trip to my nephews home, and as I said: He is more than pleased with his auntie's selection for his 18th. Hurray for "Auntie" and Planetary Design.
This won't come close. I agree with everyone else on this list. The only thing to be careful of is if you overfill, so that the grounds are floating right near the edge of the carafe. One thing I particularly enjoy is the spout. Glass carafes always seem to find a way to dribble or spill. Even if you carefully push the plunger down, some of the grounds can get stuck at the edge of the seal, causing it to have a tiny gap through which coffee can leak. Used properly, though, its a brilliant bit of houseware.Buy it now.
[.].An excellent way to make a cup of coffee whether you are at home, the office or on the road. Very usable gadget, Starbucks bye bye.
When my drip coffeemaker finally ceased working(the third drip funeral in five years)I remembered his little French Press and wondered if I should try one instead of another drip pot. I originally was considering purchasing the unit in black or chrome finish, but neither of these colors was available at the time. I placed my order through Amazon as the shipping cost was considerably less than the manufacturer's shipping cost.I have never been so pleased with a coffeemaking device as I have been with this French Press from Planetary Design and Amazon. press in Ice Blue as it coordinated with the accent colors in my kitchen. Though it looked more like a "thermos" than other French Press designs, looks were not as important to me as durability and taste. I researched the specs and customer reviews for many brands of French Presses for several weeks.
I discovered that a few reputable companies also made French Presses with stainless steel carafes, however even those with unfavorable reviews were prohibitively expensive with costs for one press near and over $100. Then I happened to come across the Planetary Design tabletop press on Amazon.com. My son had introduced me to French Press coffee about a year ago. Best of all, no bells, whistles, switches or timers to break down and this press can literally travel almost anywhere. They also stated that their press would keep coffee warm for several hours, substantiating comments from several reviewers. I decided to purchase the 48oz. I am now considering purchasing some of the smaller, very portable Planetary Design models as well, as these would be perfect to take to work, good on a plane or out camping.
press). I also thought it would be nice to have a press large enough to make 8-12 cups at once as his only made 2-4 cups in a fragile glass carafe-not something you'd want on the countertop with a very active Siamese cat in the house. First, it arrived in pristine condition within four days of placing the order without extra shipping charges. Customer reviews on Amazon for the Planetary Design product were very good in regards to taste, durability and cost(only about $50 for the large 48oz. I then checked with the manufacturer's website and learned that their product was backed with a one year warranty. The press is indeed very sturdy, keeps coffee warm enough to drink for several hours and, most importantly, makes the BEST pot of coffee my husband and I have ever tasted-smooth, great taste and absolutely no bitterness cup after cup and morning after morning. Anyone considering switching from a drip coffeemaker to a French Press should definitely try one of these tabletop presses from Planetary Design and Amazon.com.
